Slovenia is renowned for the extent of its forests, but unfortunately less than 1% of this is preserved old, natural forest, and that which survives is only found in a scatter of forest reserves. This habitat is the key to the survival of many valuable animal species – forest specialists, which may be lost in the coming years without immediate action.
